2.  What is the one thing you would like for readers to know about Iconiq Teen Model Agency?

ICONIQ is the first ever of its kind with the focal being on the teens and young adults. We do not wait for opportunities, we create them. We are changing the game in the fashion industry! We are a diverse group of aspiring models who will unequivocally be Ambassadors for Future Faces of Fashion. We are not just great...we are ICONIQ!!

3.  Do you plan on incorporating Toddlers and younger children into your Agency in the future? If yes, please explain.

Although we love the babies, currently toddlers and younger children are not a part of our platform simply because our demographics, training and coaching tailored strictly for teens and young adults. There are so many kids and adult outlets already in motion across the nation but not many for teens and young adults. As we grow, I am sure we will expand and eventually bring on kid talents 11 and under.

4.  What is the process to join your Agency?

We welcome tall, petite, Jr Plus, male & female models. Anyone interested may submit his/her info via out our website under the “Contact Us” tab and fill out the questionnaire. One of our recruiters will contact the model and or parent if under the age of 18 to set up an interview. We also have quarterly Model Calls with the next being in Sept 2015. These are open model calls. We generally promote the date, location and time via social media.

5.  Please explain how you educate your teens to be successful in modeling?

We want to make sure that we provide our clients with the ultimate ICONIQ experience so our training process is fierce. It is extremely important to know each models aspiration coupled with identifying his/her strengths/weaknesses in order for the training to be successful. For example, if a model has no experience in runway but aspire to become a runway model we will make sure proper training & coaching is provided before booking a gig for that model. The model will go through Runway 101 Classes and learn the basics of runway. We conduct a series of training classes and it takes a huge commitment from the model as well as the parent.

Our Boot Camps are held bi-weekly with classes in Runway, Etiquette, Print Model Posing and Commercial. We teach our models the proper way to pack a model bag for fashion shows, model calls or photo shoots, the standard model call attire, how to speak clear and eloquently during interview evaluations, how to prepare for photo shoots, how to brand themselves, how to build their portfolios, etc. We take pride in our teens/young adults leaving a great lasting impression on all of clients to build long relationships.

6.  What are a few tips that you can give parents that want to introduce their children into modeling?

1st Make sure it’s something the child wants to do otherwise you will waste your money.  There is so much talent out there and usually the kids know exactly what they want.  As a parent we have to know there is a fine line between supporting & pushing the child towards their dream and the parent living their dream through the child which is not healthy for either. That is why we have a screening process in place & stress the commitment from both the child & the parent prior to signing. We place all efforts towards coaching and development before we send our talent out for bookings.

2nd Research! Before you spend any money, do the work. Please research the agencies if that is what you want for your child. Visit their location, talk with other models, and ask to sit in on one of the training sets. It’s worth the trouble and if the agency has good intentions with your child, they won’t mind.
I have fallen victim to many agencies that have taken my money & sold me a dream but did not do anything with my daughter. That is because I did not do the research. I thought reading their website was enough; it is not.
Because I am a boutique owner and often showcased in fashion shows (17 shows in 12 months in 2014) my daughter was able to hit the runways because I put her out there, not the agencies. I was lucky, I had an alternate opportunity for my daughter but that is not the case for most parents.
After both my daughter and I participated in New York Fashion Week in the fall of 2014, she as a model and I as a boutique we both gained a lot of national attention. She received more offers for runway; I received my clients and sales! Because of that experience I began to get calls, emails and inboxes on FB from parents wanting to know which agency my daughter was with. At the time it was funny because my answer was the same “Not with an agency, just with her Mommy” I hadn’t realized there were so many parent like myself who’d spent thousands of dollars with agencies but no results.
The reason ICONIQ exists today is because I was tired of being taken advantage of. My daughter is the sole reason I created ICONIQ because I wish to help other parents who has experienced the same. The difference is that ICONIQ equals results. I’m sure people are seeing the incredible tings we are doing with the youth.
