Summer is here and is very well letting
us know with this heat. But just because you can fry an egg on the bare
sidewalk does not mean that you can't be stylish while frying that egg! So here
you go: My top 5 summer trends that will keep you fashionable and cute...and I
must add they can be found just about anywhere so you can save your coins for
that well deserved vacation.
My first trend that I am really loving
is FRINGE! Fringe was very popular with "hippies" and like everything
else it has came back around, but right now fringe is trending on shoes;
sandals and heels to me exact. The good thing about fringe is it pairs well
with just about any outfit and depending on the shoe it can be dressed up or
down.
Gladiator Sandals or Jesus sandals some
may call it, but whatever you call them they are simply fabulous. They come in
a variety of length from above the ankle to a thigh high beauty. You can pair
these Gladiator sandals with shorts and a tank for a simple yet stylish look or
a pair of heeled gladiator sandals with a dress and you will be party ready.
The best thing about this trend is they are very reasonable. They can be found
at just about any retailer and can range from twenty bucks and up. So the
gladiator trend is a win win.
Pastels and not your Easter holiday
pastels are also trending this year! Mint and powder pink seem to be the most
popular but none the less they are so feminine and pretty. Most celebs who are
rocking this trend are drenching them self in the monochromatic
pastel...wearing pink top, bottom, handbag and shoes...with a pop of another
pastel for accessories. This trend brings elegance back to the table and I am
loving it!!!
Lastly, my favorite trend is African
print also known as tribal print. I am so happy to see so many people
representing their culture and wearing African/tribal print head-wraps,
dresses, shirts, sweats and so much more! I am excited about this
movement...but as we all know trends come to abrupt end always...I just hope
this become a trend we turn into a style!
So now that you know the inside scoop on
what is trending go out and be fashionable and stay cool!
I heard that a team from Arkansas by the name of Arkansas Finest got selected to play in
a two million dollar tournament for the South Region ,which was held in North
Carolina. Thetournment.com was hosting a tournament with a prize of 2-million
dollars: it was a winner take all game series. This consisted of sixty-four teams from four regions competing for one, 2-Million-dollar prize.I called Marshall Bonds III, a friend from college, and asked him how did the game go? He said, “We Lost, But We Still Won.” As he began
to tell me the story of how his team only had five members and played a
36-minute-game by themselves, I was in shock of how they lost but they still
won.
Bonds said “we were playing against Josh Shelby along with some
other top athletes. We are nobodies compared to them we were just low D1, D2 and
a few of us had only played college basketball.”
I asked him how did it make you feel to play against these top
athletes…did you think your team would win.? Bonds said “To be honest Terica I was
nervous. We were going to North Carolina with only six people and only five of us
could play ;the other person was our coach. It was eleven of us on the roster
but some of the team couldn’t make it and we ended up going to North Carolina with only six people."
Out of curiosity I asked Bonds …what happened to the other players? Bonds
said “I can’t go into detail because they couldn’t go to North Carolina for personal reasons. A
lot of people thought we wouldn’t make it this far but we made it. We had to go
with what we had and all we had was six people . Even my team mate
Larry said this an’t go be easy.”
The semi-pro team, Arkansas
Finest, made it all the way to North Carolina. The difference between Arkansas Finest and their competitor B.D.B is that they only had five team
members compared to B.D.B.'s eight team members. This left the Arkansas Finest with following five members, : DAndre Jordan
Williams, Rashad Moss, Marshall Bonds III, Leroy Isler, Larry Williams. Along
with them was Jerome McNeal Sr. as their coach.
My mind could not fathom the amount of pressure they must have
felt. The first thought that ran through my mind was that... they wouldn't have any substitutes. The
second thought that ran through my mind was that... these guys would have to give EVERYTHING
they had in them to win this game.
This blew my mind. How can a team of five play a team of seven for 2-million dollars and expect to triumph? The word triumph is a understatement Arkansas Finest killed it on the court the entire game. According to Whistle Sports Live (1st half), of the game, the score was 30-24, with the Arkansas Finest taking the lead. According to Whistle Sports Live (2nd half, 5:11 mark), the score was 58-55, with Arkansas Finest taking the lead still. Shortly after, the game ended with a score of 65-77, Arkansas Finest down.
Bonds told me that after the game he gave thanks to God just for
bringing his team to North Carolina. He said “Terica, we walked into a gym with
just my team. We didn’t have anyone there from our home town supporting us in
the crowd, but at one point the crowd began to cheer for us. It was the most
amazing feeling. I can’t even describe it."
I then asked Bonds how did you have so much energy? Bonds said “I
had this woman come back into my life and she began to speak positive words
over me. She told me you may get down but you’re not out. she told me not to give up. There
were times I wanted to give up but I just remember her words along with my
favorite quote “Mind over Matter.” Then I remembered my favorite scripture “I
can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
At one point my team mate number 13 told me he was exhausted. I
told him you’re not exhausted. He looked at me like I was crazy. I told him
you’re not exhausted again. He began to stand up and I said you’re not
exhausted he said I’m not exhausted! Then we continued to play and we gave the
game everything we had. At one point I began to call on Jesus because I was
getting tired. People began to look at me but I know there is power in Jesus’s
name and I needed a lot of power."
So to answer your question in a nutshell I had people that God placed in my life,
I had to Encourage Myself and I had to do this for my team. After hearing Bonds
explanation of how they lost but still won even I can admit that Arkansas
Finest definitely won that night. The only difference is that B.D.B. advanced
to the next bracket. Even still Arkansas Finest played a 2-Million dollar game
with all the odds against them.
Arkansas Finest gave it their all and in the last five minutes lost the game but won the respect of thousands. I asked Bonds who was the captain that night and he said " Terica we are a team ... we really don't have a captain." I'm still not sure who lead the team that night but I know if a M.V.P. Award could be given . I would give it to every single team member that got on that plane headed to North Carolina. Despite the odds being against them they still played one hell of a game.Arkansas Finest had the mentality to win and that definitely showed in the stats. It took a lot of stamina and those guys definitely showed that the quote “ Mind Over Matter” will never fail you. So even though they lost on the score board in my eyes they still won.
This team definitely lives up to its name “Arkansas Finest.” They currently reign supreme out of eight other teams on the Arkansas Elite Basketball League roster. This group of young men is definitely the cream of the crop coming out of Arkansas. Arkansas Finest ranks number 1 on the league roster with
12 wins and 1 loss. I am proud of this group of men and wish them
nothing but success and blessings.

In this season know that a few “Group Projects” will
come your way. Most of the weight will be carried by your group leader.
Imagine that a group project or group opportunity has been presented to you. You
have been an A student in your teacher’s eyes and he says I need to you join
this group project with my other A students. I need you to work together in
order to accomplish a goal. This project will bless you as a group and individually.
It will require a team effort and for you to follow your leader. There is no
room for Egos in this project. Each person has a part and it has been assigned
to that person based on their traits. One person says I got a small part but
the teacher says just do your part. Another person says I’m doing too much but
teacher say’s do your part.
Know that in this season it is imperative that you
make sure you are connected to the right people. This “group project” is like
a rocket ship launch into your career. There are some doors only a team of people can go
through. You have to make sure you have the right people in your circle. If
your circle looks like the meme below then know that you’re going to get a
group F.
You may get your A for your part but the goal was not just you to go
into the next shift but for you to take others with you.In other words if you don’t have the right people in
your circle then you will miss out on a BIG blessing. Why because they will
hold you back. Why? Because they won’t do their part in your destiny. Why? Because
they will let fear, self-doubt and hearsay prevent them from completing their
part. You cannot afford to have these type of people in your circle. Imagine you’re
on a team and you have to work together to win. Have you heard the saying " There is no I in Team" in this season know that is true now more than ever. There also isn't any no room for people's egos. If
you’re not working as a team to accomplish a goal then the dysfunction will
cause you to lose.
So make sure your team and inner circle consists of strong
minded people who can follow andlead when necessary. Make sure they are
positive people who can encourage and push the group. Make sure they have an unshakable faith going into this next shift the opponent (enemy) is going to
give it all he has to make you lose. He will began to distract you so that you and the group will lose focus. If your not focused you can't do your part effectively. This will be a TEAM project that will
change your life so choose wisely who you surround yourself with. Some of the people in your group will do very little
to get an A , because they have favor God just wants them to do their part.
Their blessing is overdue and all they will have to do issomethingno
matter how big or small.
The group leader is Jesus and God is the teacher who
will grade you.Jesus is your group leader and will
carry the majority of the weight for the entire group. Whenever you need help or don't understand your task or part go to him. This will be an easy A
for some... while for others this will determine whether they go to the next level
or repeat the same level. In other words this GROUP OR TEAM
PROJECT will determine your next shift or whether you remain stagnant for
another year. God’s allowing you pick your own team so choose wisely. Note don’t
choose your friends if you know they will not do the work.
A Houston,
Texas educator has become an overnight celebrity literally. On Tuesday social media began to take notice of an older gentleman with the "swag" and body
of a twenty five year old and by Wednesday everyone knew about this educator.
If you have not heard of this man you must not have been on the internet within
the last week.

Mr. Irvin
Randle also known as Mr.Steal Your Grandma has received publicity for his
fashionable and edgy style that takes being 54 years old to a whole new level.
I would easily say he is showing some of the younger generation a thing or two
about style! Mr. Randle's fancy dressing has been covered by several social
media outlets, new stations, radio stations and even has a few celebrities
eyeing him.

I personally
admire his sense of style, I would not
be surprised if he was a fashion
stylist on the side. His eye catching outfits have a style of casual dress,
urban wear, business casual, red carpet ready and savvy athletic. Needless to
say this man has the fashion juice and does not let his age hold him back.
